Choose the best version of Windows XP for your needs
All HP Pavilion a1110y models come with Microsoft Windows XP, which includes the new Windows XP Service Pack 2 with Advanced Security Technologies to help protect your PC against viruses, hackers, and worms.
When you customize an a1110y, you have three choices of operating system:
- Windows XP Home, which gives you complete home computing functionality, including wireless connections, Windows Firewall, and privacy support
- Windows XP Media Center 2005, which gives you a simple way to organize and control photos, music, movies and more; you can also add a remote and run the show from the comfort of your sofa
- Windows XP Professional, which is recommended for home offices and features an encrypting file system to help protect sensitive data
Take advantage of the value in an Intel processor
Intel's Pentium 4 processor will supply you with all the proven, reliable technology you need, day in and day out. It supplies a little more muscle for multimedia (including video and music) than the Intel Celeron processor, and it also increases your system's ability to multitask and run more demanding applications.
Visualize the difference with great graphics
All HP Pavilion a1110y PCs feature integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 graphics, which means you get realistic-looking digital photos, Web graphics, and other visual content. The new Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 900 provides incredible visual quality, versatile display options, and 3D performance-all without the additional cost, noise and power that discrete graphics cards can require.
Make music, movies, and more
You can customize your HP Pavilion a1110y PC with up to two optical drives. This lets you burn music and data on CDs (using a CD writer) and create home movies (using a DVD+RW/+R DVD writer).
Use LightScribe to personalize CDs and DVDs
Now you can burn silkscreen-quality labels right on discs, straight from your PC with the optional HP LightScribe DVD writer (requires use of LightScribe discs). After burning a disc, you just flip and reinsert it in the same drive for labeling--no printing, aligning, or sticking.
Stock up on memory for smooth performance
HP Pavilion a1110y desktops come standard with single-channel DDR2 400MHz SDRAM, which is affordable but fast enough for all those things you do regularly, like word processing and sending e-mail. For more-data-intensive applications such as photo editing, you can upgrade to dual-channel DDR2 400MHz SDRAM, which reduces the timing delays that inherently occur with a single memory module.
Store everything with plenty of hard-drive space
You can never have too much space for storing digital files, photos and songs. These Pavilion a1110y desktops offer Serial ATA hard drives with up to 250GB (7200 rpm) when you customize.
Enjoy high-end technology at an affordable price
Integrated IEEE 1394 Firewire provides support for both plug and play and hot plugging. The a1110y is one of the few entry-level PC that comes standard with this high-end technology, providing fast and flexible connectivity to peripherals.
